Enjoy summers under the midnight sun with alpine meadows, mountain bike trails, and world-class fishing and canoeing right in your own backyard. In winter, cozy up after a hockey game, ice fishing, or a quick ski – or take the snowmobile for a spin under our breathtaking Northern Lights. Our lively town is brimming with historic boardwalks, cafes and restaurants, weekly shows and events, and world-class arts performances.

Winter Activities

Yes, our Northern Lights are stunning. But despite what people may think, it’s not dark here all the time... and when the sun is up, your ultimate winter playground awaits. Hockey and curling, downhill and cross-country skiing, sledding and snowshoeing, fat biking and snowmobiling, ice-fishing and dog-sledding – they’re all a way of life here in Dawson.

arts & culture

Dawson lives and breathes Klondike culture, with live dance shows, historic boardwalks, and gold rush-era relics like the SS Keno historic paddle wheeler right on Front Street. Visit the gallery, catch some performing arts or attend a class at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture. Take the whole family and make a weekend of the Dawson City Music Festival. Plus, get to know the arts and culture of a vibrant local First Nation.

Community events

There’s nothing Dawson folk love more than a community event. Enjoy a weekly Farmers Market and Arts & Craft Fair all summer long, dare to strike gold in the Yukon Gold Panning Championships, or go a little wild at the Thaw Di Gras spring Carnival. No matter the season, we have a reason to celebrate. Next up on the schedule: Dawson’s Burger Bonanza. Need we say more?
